Primary Plasticizer Supplier in India: DOP, ODOP and DBP
Primary plasticizers do the heavy lifting in flexible PVC: they are compatible enough with the polymer to be used as the main plasticizing component, lowering stiffness and giving the compound its working flexibility. Superior Plasto Chem supplies three primary plasticizers to Indian converters: odourless DOP (O.D.O.P), DOP (di-octyl phthalate) and DBP (di-n-butyl phthalate).
Each product page below lists the characteristics we publish: colour, specific gravity, refractive index, acid value, moisture, volatility and ester purity, alongside the test method referenced for each value. If your formulation needs a different parameter, ask and we will confirm what can be supplied.

·Technical guidance
What to weigh when you choose.
Choosing between DOP and DBP
DOP is the general-purpose workhorse for flexible PVC. DBP is a lower-molecular-weight, higher-polarity phthalate that is often used where faster fusion or specific solvating behaviour is wanted, and is frequently blended with other plasticizers. The right choice depends on your processing window, end-product requirements and the regulatory position in the markets you sell to.
When odour matters
Odourless DOP (O.D.O.P) carries a published ester purity of 99.8 % minimum and an odourless specification. It is the usual choice where finished goods are handled or smelled by the end user.
Check the regulatory position early
Phthalate plasticizers are restricted or subject to limits in several markets and product categories (for example toys, childcare articles and some food-contact or medical uses). Confirm the requirements for your destination market before you specify a grade. See our Quality and Compliance page for how we approach this.
What is the difference between a primary and a secondary plasticizer?
A primary plasticizer is compatible enough with PVC to be used as the main plasticizing component. A secondary plasticizer, such as chlorinated paraffin, is typically blended with a primary plasticizer to adjust cost, flame performance or other properties, and is used at lower ratios.
Which test method do your plasticizer specifications reference?
The colour, specific gravity, refractive index, acid value, moisture and heat-treatment colour values are referenced to IS 9591:1996. Volatility and G.C. purity are referenced to RPTM, as shown in the specification tables.
Can I request a certificate of analysis with an order?
Request it when you ask for a quote. We will confirm whether a COA can be issued for the grade and lot you are ordering.
