01Technical introduction
Uncoated Calcium Carbonate (Super-U series): overview
Uncoated calcium carbonate is the untreated mineral filler. It is specified where the formulation or process calls for an untreated surface, or where a processor applies its own surface treatment or relies on the lubricant system in the compound.
The Super-U series comprises three grades, Super-U2, Super-U3 and Super-U4, with D50 from 1.3 to 2.8 µm and D97 from 10.5 to 18 µm. Chemistry and physical properties match the coated series: CaCO₃ ≥ 98.50 % (dry basis), whiteness 98 ± 1, brightness 96 ± 1, oil absorption 23 g / 100 g.
Benefits
- Published D50 and D97 for each grade.
- Same purity and optical properties as the coated series: CaCO₃ ≥ 98.50 %, whiteness 98 ± 1, brightness 96 ± 1.
- Low moisture (0.10 %) and acid insoluble (0.3 % max).
- Pairs with in-house surface treatment or a lubricant package tuned to your compound.

Documentation
Technical data sheet (TDS), certificate of analysis (COA) and safety data sheet (SDS) availability depends on the grade and source. Ask for the documents you need when you request a quote and we will confirm what can be supplied for your order.
05Storage and handling
Storage and handling
- Store in a cool, dry, covered area on pallets, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
- Reseal opened bags promptly; fine powders absorb moisture and can cake or lose flow.
- Use first-in, first-out stock rotation and keep lots separate for traceability.
- Limit dust generation when handling; use suitable dust control and respiratory protection per the SDS.
General good-practice guidance. The safety data sheet for your supplied grade always takes precedence.

08FAQ
Uncoated Calcium Carbonate: frequently asked
When would I choose uncoated over coated?
When your formulation or process calls for an untreated filler, or you apply your own treatment. If you want surface-treated filler for better dispersion, evaluate the coated Super-C series.
Is the chemistry the same as the coated grades?
Yes, the published chemistry and optical properties are the same. The difference is the stearic acid surface treatment.
Do you export uncoated calcium carbonate?
